The Anti-Rubber Ducky: Bath Toys . . . for Tweens!
This year, AquaStruct, Inc., a new toy company from Northern Virginia, is introducing what it describes as “the anti-rubber ducky” – a bath and shower toy system designed for tweens. AquaStruct™ -- is the world’s first and only shower construction toy for tweens. AquaStruct™ lets youths 7-16 plumb the walls of their showers with suction-cup mounted pipes, hoses, valves, sprayers and misters. AquaStruct™’s spraying shower curtains and tub mats are totally unique. AquaStruct™ will be on shelves in August 2007.
“Every aspect of this toy system – from product design to brand DNA -- has been engineered with tweens in mind,” said AquaStruct CEO Jim Phipps. “We are delighted to serve otherwise unserved play space (shower time) and to help parents overcome tween reluctance to taking showers. If you’ve ever tried to cojole a ten your old boy or girl into getting in the shower and getting clean, you’ll know why we’re so excited about this toy.” But the toy is not about what it does for parents, Phipps says. “It’s about the kids. They want not only fun, but cool. And at this age, they’re beginning to know all there is to know about cool.”
One aspect of this product that sets it apart from other offerings aimed at the tween segment is that it is not competing for play time with the electronic and online games and distractions that consume so much of the available play time in the segment. “In this age bracket, almost everyone takes (or is compelled to take) a shower everyday, regardless of how much time they spend online, watching TV or playing electronic games.” AquaStruct™ “takes the groan out of getting them into the shower” says Phipps, “for both the tweens and the parents.”
The AquaStruct™ toy system is appropriate for youth ages 7 and up. Basic kits retail for approximately $35 with Plus and Deluxe kits at $65 and $95. Attachments retail for between $25 and $41. Orders are being taken for Fall 2007 delivery at Toy Fair 2007. International licensees and distributors are sought.

AquaStruct™ — Never Step Into The Same Shower Twice™
Two thousand five hundred years ago, Heraclitus claimed, ‘You cannot step into the same river twice.’ Now, with the introduction of the AquaStruct™ toy system, the ancient Greek philosopher has been proven right . . . at least as regards your shower.
AquaStruct lets children plumb and replumb and replumb again the walls of their baths and showers with colorful, suction-cup mounted, pipes, hoses, valves, sprayers, misters, nozzles, and squirting devices. This is accomplished using proprietary zero insertion force, easy release, no-twist connectors that provide a leak proof, plumbing grade seal. With AquaStruct, you will, ‘Never step into the same shower twice. ™’
“The old adage -- variety is the spice of life -- is not just true for adults,” said Lori Phipps of AquaStruct, Inc. “We designed this toy because it became increasingly difficult to get our growing children into the shower. The struggle began not long after they started taking showers rather than baths.” At that point, Phipps explained, “the bath toys disappeared and there was nothing to do in there but get soap in your eyes.”
“Now that we’ve built AquaStruct, our problem is convincing our kids to get out of the shower.” How does all that extra time in the shower affect the water bill? With throughput of not more than 2.5 gallons per minute, AquaStruct™ qualifies as a water saving device under the federal gold standard for low-flow shower devices.
With easy to use spider control valves, AquaStruct™ encourages youths to use water sparingly, turning off the water while soaping up or shampooing and while rearranging the plumbing. This means that, if a typical shower lasts about 8 minutes and uses about 17 gallons of water (source: www.h2ouse.org), an Aquastruct™ shower of the same duration can use much less water. That, or the AquaStruct™ shower can last longer, while using no more water.
Soon AquaStruct™ will include a shower meter that will allow parents and children to measure gallons of water used and to program the shower for automatic shut off at a chosen usage level. This feature will allow kids both to enjoy their showers, to be conscious of their water usage and to promote wise water use practices.
The AquaStruct™ toy system is appropriate for youth ages 7 and up. Basic kits retail for approximately $35 with Plus and Deluxe kits retailing at $65 and $95. Attachments retail for between $25 and $41. Orders are being taken for Fall 2007 delivery at Toy Fair 2007. International licensees and distributors are sought.

AquaStruct™ — Ride Your Inner Wave™
Pining for a day at the beach? Now the surf is no further than your shower. AquaStruct, Inc. is now offering a shower toy for tweens that converts boring tub mats and shower curtains into wicked surfboards and mountainous tube waves. And it is not just about wave images and surfboard art printed on shower curtains and tub mats. These products become an active part of the shower. Like oceanspray, or the atomizing mist off a barreling wave, these products spray water onto shower-surfing tweens.
The AquaStruct™ spraying tube wave shower curtain and spraying surfboard tub mat connect into the AquaStruct™ water-delivery system, which empowers youths to plumb the walls of their showers with groovy, suction-cup mounted, pipes, hoses, valves, sprayers, misters, nozzles, delivering water in a myriad of ways. The system employs a proprietary zero insertion force, easy release, no-twist connector that provides leak proof, plumbing grade connections in a simple snap.
AquaStruct, Inc.’s 2007 marketing campaign, entitled ‘Ride Your Inner Wave™’ evokes the “almost zen-like experience” of having the fun put back into showering, says AquaStruct CEO Jim Phipps. “You get in there, get to imagining, and next thing you know you’re riding a big wave on Hawaii’s North Shore or wiping out on the almost impossible waves at Maverick in Northern California.”
The tween market is thought to be one of the most lucrative, and elusive markets out there. Figuring out what tweens want and getting it to them is the sort of thing companies like AquaStruct, Inc. spend a lot of time and effort trying to figure out. “We think retailers are going to find this product to be an easy sell into the intended market. There is not to my knowledge another product on offer that addresses the play time that the AquaStruct™ toy system addresses.”

Phipps also indicated that future plans include a variety of themed systems and the use of the AquaStruct™ toy system as a platform for licensed property toys and themed toys.
